Although with a flare up quantity of high fibre foodstuff will be reduced, whereas a low fibre & low residue diet is preferred. These diets relax the bowel and thereby symptoms are reduced. For the patient of lactose intolerant, the foods which contain lactose like dairy products should be avoided. In its place lactase pre-treated & lactose enzymes food should be eaten. During the flare up, it is good to nurture the body by frequent & small meals. A good protein meal of egg, lean meat & fish give relief from crohn’s disease.

It is good to have a pre-digested dietary drink which relaxes the bowel & lost vitamins can recover by the body to fix it. However the drink must be taken only by the instruction of the doctor. It is good to take alcohol, caffeine, sorbitol & sweetener in limited quantity because these products only intensify the signs of Crohn’s disease. Also reduce in taking of foods which produce gas such as: vegetables in the cabbage family such as cauliflower, onions, sprouts & carbonated drinks. People whose intestine is surgically removed should stop taking fats as these foodstuffs generate gas & lead to diarrhea. Overall, it is significant for the people suffering from Crohn’s disease to take a healthy diet & avoid foodstuff that tends to aggravate symptoms.
